My Favorite Burning Man Videos

These are a curated collection of my favorite Burning Man videos, ranging from dreamy timelapses to stories about individual Burners.

2016

I created a tribute to David Bowie (and broke the story that his ashes were in the Temple this year) using my 2016 footage, set to his song Space Oddity. Enjoy!

2015

My 2015 video, which I'm fairly pleased with.
My friend Mark Day's 2015 video! An hour and 40 minutes of Burning Man!
Beautiful drone footage of 2015.

2014

My 2014 video.  A compilation, set to music whose lyrics are sometimes relevant to what's on the screen or BM in general.

One of my favorite Burning Man videos ever, set to a commencement speech from Jim Carrey that is magical. You must watch this.

Another video I made in 2014, but combines footage from multiple years. It's got new Burner lyrics and original vocals to "My Favorite Things", from the Sound of Music. A little goofy, sorry!
Trey Ratcliff's incredible photos from 2014 set to music. Turn it up.
A video set to a track I happen to really love. "So Good To Me" by Chris Malinchak.
Drone's eye view of Burning Man. Beautiful footage.
A quirky video that's actually from Afrika Burn (the largest regional burn, with about 8000 people attending I believe) but may as well have been shot at Burning Man.
One of Mark Day's videos, focusing on the fun clown nose project.
Another of Mark Day's videos, this one documenting Burning Man mainly with natural sounds from the event rather than overlaid music (except in the beginning). That'd distinctly different from most BM videos.

2013

Lake of Dreams is easily one of the trippiest and and most amazing videos of Burning Man. It's a collection of gorgeous time-lapses set to original music. A must-watch.
Drone's eye view of Burning Man.
Mark Day goes to Burning Man for 24 hours. Over an hour long!
My video from 2013, set to a variety of music.
Stylish video that stands out partly because its soundtrack doesn't sound like most BM videos.
An 81 year-old man recovering from cancer and open-heart surgery goes to Burning Man. Very touching and highly recommended. From Jan Beddegenoodts.
An 86 year-old retired firefighter experiences Burning Man.
Slow and haunting, with a monologue taken from somewhere behind it. From Nick Masculino.

2012

An excellent video documentary from Rich Van Every on the art and artists of BM. Includes interviews with artists.
Great video of Robot Heart at dawn, though by watching it you'd get the idea that everybody at Burning Man is thin and gorgeous, which isn't the case. All types of people are Burners.
A 50 minute documentary about Burning Man.
A lovely video from Vincent Rommelaere.
Fun video whose editing combines music and some ambient sounds/voices from Nick Masculino.
My video from this year! A melange of music and various parts of life in Black Rock City.

2011

One of my favorite-ever Burning Man videos, set to Dr. Seuss's "Oh The Places You'll Go."

Part one of two - Day scenes, from Ahmed.
Part two of two - Night scenes, from Ahmed.

2010

From the always masterful roy two thousand. Lots of timelapse, lovely footage.
This one has no soundtrack, instead using the audio that was recorded with the video, giving you a less edited feel of Burning Man.

2009

Ben Wiggin's two minute collection of time-lapses, with music by by roy two thousand.

2006

TV Free Burning Man Anthology from Justin Gunn on Vimeo.

2000

A wide-eyed look at the event from MSNBC.

1999

A pair of 'natural' videos with no audio added or removed. First day, then night.

1997

A pair of looks at Burning Man in '97:

1996

700 Club visits Burning Man 1996 (Dust & Illusions) from Madnomad Films on Vimeo.

This one is hilarious. The 700 Club is a fundamentalist Christian tv show, and the theme the year they visited was 'Hell'.

1995

Burning Man Festival documentary - 1995 festival from Joe Winston on Vimeo.
